Four more days

Just four more days before the new wee one gets to come home. I can't wait, can you tell? She's just so darn cute!!! And I can't wait to watch her grow. I hear she's got an ear almost up...definitely won't have to tape this one, either. That'll make three that never had any tape on their ears. Of course, I shouldn't talk too soon...we'll just have to wait and see. Fourteen weeks is the limit in our house...then the tape will come out.

As for knitting, thank goodness for Fred Meyer. Sometimes you've got to look for yarn in unusual places and Fred's actually has a decent selection. Lots of colors of Homespun at great prices, plus chenilles, baby yarns, and now they have variegated wool. I can't believe it. Perfect for felting!!! So I got enough yarn at their buy 2 get 1 free sale to make two birthday presents, though I may add another color to the variegated. Still a good shopping deal for me!!!! Now to plan those presents! I actually started one tonight and she doesn't know I have a blog, so I can talk about it. I'm making a drop stitch scarf out of a yarn called baby cloud for my work study student. Her birthday is Tuesday, so I've got some quick knitting to do. I've already knit about a foot of it and it's really cute. I'll put up pictures when I get it done. :)

Tomorrow's the big prep day for Savannah's arrival. I'll rearrange and deep clean the bedroom so there is plenty of room for her crate in there. And I'll clean her crate and make sure she's got plenty of easily washable bedding ready to go. Puppy, puppy, puppy, puppy, puppy!!!! Can't wait!!!!!

And I encourage others to get them?

Damn Verizon! I'm always telling people how great they are, how nice their online and phone customer service is, and how consistent and reliable their service is. Not today, that's for sure!!! Stupid Verizon!!! Didn't have any damn service most of the night. The first time Paul was finally able to get through to them, they said there wasn't a problem. Guess they checked into it, cuz now I can get a 48 second call to go through and that's about it. Now they tell Paul they know there is a problem and they're working on it. Lovely!

Cables

Why, oh why can't do I have so much with front cables? My brain totally gets back cables. I don't mix 'em up, I don't do some one way and some another, but I can't seem to manage that with the front cables. Maybe I ought to make the cables on both my gauntlets go the same way. Nah, I bought cashmere for the things; I've got to do them right. So frogging I will go...at least 5 rows or so. Dang it! Wanna see what I'm making? They're at http://knitty.com/ISSUEsummer06/PATTfetching.html. I'm making them in a dark chocolate brown color. I've got a skein of this lovely plum color, but it'll be used for something else now. One pair of these is plenty!

The Name Game

I originally had Cricket stuck in my head, but now we're also considering other names for our new puppy. The litter theme is "down home". We've got that covered with Wolfrun White Lightnin', but we really want a call name that at least makes some sense. So, Paul came up with Savannah. We also tossed around Zinnia, Eliza, Susannah, and others. Anyone got any votes? Anyone think of any others? Guess this means I'll have to let everyone know I have a blog, eh? :)

On knitting news, I got a new knitting book and daily calendar from Amazon today. I do all these surveys and things, so get gift certificates and cash that help feed my knitting obsession. Nice thing about this shipment...completely free thanks to several of these survey places. Free is always good! Anyway, I got "Big Girl Knits" and the "Stitch 'n Bitch" calendar. I don't like all the patterns in BGK, but the fitting section is awesome and would work for those who aren't BKs. As for the calendar, I tried to be good and not jump ahead, but there is some really fun stuff in their that should help make the addiction even worse over the next year. Now I've just got to get all the yarn for all the projects I've got to have done by the holidays. ACH!!!

Oh, my goodness, they found me already...

I just put this site up yesterday and can't believe that two people found me already. Just amazing! I'm totally shocked! I thought I'd just mess with it a bit, learn what some of this stuff I've never done before is all about, and test it before anyone could figure out I actually had a blog. Instead, I already have comments. Wow, you guys are so connected!!! :)

...and so it began

Alright, I give in. I've finally been sucked into what I once was sort of teased about for calling "bloggie things." See...all my friends have them and that seems to be how they really keep up on what is going on with each other, though we share an email list together. So, I decided I'd give it a try. Why anyone would really read it is beyond me, but, hey, at least I can document my knitting (one cardigan) and my wonderful dogs (another cardigan) on here.

And what better time to start than with a soon-to-be new addition. We've already got two Cardigan Welsh Corgis, Libby (Prizm's Liberty Fanfare) and Ethan (Ch. C-Myste Mission Impossible), so now we'll be adding lucky number three. We haven't decided on a call name for her for sure yet, but her registered name will be Wolfrun White Lightnin'...another term for moonshine and fitting for the lovely little white streak she has across her right ear. I'll post pictures of them all as soon as I figure out exactly how that works! :)

Wolfrun White Lightnin' at 6 weeks in mid-September 2006

As for knitting, I started knitting in late December 2005. I love knitting bags...I've made about 6 so far. I've also made 4 scarves, a baby sweater and two pairs of socks. I always thought I'd be one of those one project at a time knitters...very atypical, but my sort of way of doing things. I was wrong, of course. Currently, I've got three projects on needles. I've got a wrap I found on the Lion Brand site going in Naturally Tussock, a sweater I also saw on there in Lion Homespun, and the second of a pair of gauntlets or mitts or whatever they're called from Knitty.com.

Well, I think that's enough to bore anyone for now...hopefully things will get a bit more exciting with time. :)
